- Nikhil Mayor Review added: 2018.11.19★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆It's not difficult to understand what the owners have attempted to do here, in providing "authentic" Punjabi food on a more upmarket scale; something that has the potential to be excellent and that Hornchurch definitely does not already offer. Unfortunately, this is a mediocre attempt at best.
I went with my family, and we ordered a selection of starters which were excellent. We enjoyed them and were looking forward to the main course, but from here it went downhill. The food may have been authentic, but the staff absolutely weren't. The waitress didn't really know anything about the food or how to explain the dishes, then another waiter tried to give us someone else's food. The worst thing was that it took 20 minutes from the starters being cleared off the table to the mains arriving.
The mains were particularly bland, despite the waitress assuring us they were "Punjabi style" and spicier than other restaurants. We only ordered two mains so I don't know if this really applies to the whole menu, but we were certainly disappointed. The portions weren't very big either, considering the price we paid, and the 10% service charge wasn't warranted!
I can see how this restaurant might appeal to those that have never eaten Punjabi food before, but I don't think I'll take my family there again.
